Menagerie Seeking Submissions For Sparks

Performance dates: Thursday 15th - Sunday 18th January 2009 The Junction, Cambridge
SPARKS is a series of staged readings of new plays taking place at The Junction in Cambridge in January 2009.

The 6 plays have the potential to go forward to HOTBED 2009, the Cambridge Festival of New Writing. At HOTBED, we will produce one of the plays, and offer more development to at least 2 more. Beyond HOTBED, there are more opportunities for touring and further production, nationally and internationally.
We prioritise writers who are based in the East of England and will consider all plays between 60 and 90 minutes as long as they’ve never been previously produced.
The more polished the script is, the better, but we are not looking for final drafts at this stage. It must, however, be a script rather than a treatment.
The play must be performable by a maximum of 5 actors.

Please include a cover letter and a CV with email and telephone contact details, along with an S.A.S.E. if you wish your script to be returned. We are only able to accept postal submissions for SPARKS. No scripts sent electronically will be accepted.
We will reply to everyone who submits a script though we will only give feedback to the 6 selected scripts. Final decisions will be made by December 22nd 2008.
Please note: there is no fee offered for SPARKS. At this point, the investment we make in the 6 plays is to give them initial feedback and the staged reading.
We will pay travel expenses for the chosen writers to attend rehearsals and performances.
