Enigma Magazine opens its gates for its winter issue and its first for 2010. We have issues published in print and online as well as holding our first open mic, Spoken from the Art at the Cross Kings. Submissions are always welcome from any background, the guidelines of which are up on the website. We invite schools, colleges, writing communities and more to share their stories, poetry and playscripts with us. We accept these for online display, either through text or through MP3 – if you’re reading someone else’s work, please make that clear in the recording. We also accept illustrations for the cover of the magazine and inserts.

Guidelines: Up to three poems/short stories/short scripts ( up to 3,000 words max.). The rough deadline for the Winter Issue will be the 10th February because of the delay before. Submissions should be sent to editor@enigmacw.co.uk or by post to Enigma Magazine, 41 Floral Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9DG. Please include a paragraph of your author’s biography, i.e. what made you interested in writing as well as general interests in case you are selected. We put these in the back as reference to the code, as you can see in previous issues. For more details, check the website www.enigmacw.co.uk and for updates on our regular and topical features. We offer the regular “What’s Your Story?” feature and introducing the theme of “New Year’s Resolutions” for the Winter Issue.

1)      What’s Your Story? No matter what background, aspirations or goals in the literary world, Enigma Magazine would be delighted to hear your story for this quarterly feature. The limit is 300 to 500 words.
2)      New Year’s Resolutions - NEW What would you like to do differently this year, or even keep the same as a recognition of your achievements? It can be literary or not, or a mixture! This is a one off feature and the limit is 300 – 800 words.

Would you like to perform at one of Enigma’s Open Mics?
Enigma made its debut from page to stage with the Spoken from the Art night at the Cross Kings, and it was a great mix of varied performances and topics. To read the most recent review, click on www.enigmacw.co.uk/events. We want to hear from you and when you would like it. A possible idea floating around includes celebrating National Storytelling Day, where we offer the official topic of this special day – light and shadow. Any prose, poetry, short plays that you’d like to perform on this topic would be much appreciated! Email editor@enigmacw.co.uk if you’d be interested in taking part, watching or helping with the event.
